Places We've Visited

This is a quick rundown on the places we have been fortunate enough to visit.

Hanoi -

We will probably get to Hanoi once a month so we will have many opportunities to learn more about this wonderful city which is the capital of Viet Nam.

Since we come so often we are hoping to find a rather inexpensive hotel that will feel like our second home when we visit.  For our first trip we stayed at the fabulous Melina Hotel.  We splurged because we hadn't seen each other in two months.  We even upgraded to a suite which included free happy hour.  We can only stay at the Melina when we are paying for it ourselves - it doesn't quite fit with a non-profit budget.

John kept remarking on how comfortable the bed was.  I would soon find out why.  The beds in Viet Nam are rather hard, and the bed in our home in Haiphong is no exception.  It has been only 3 weeks and I am still trying to get used to it.

Our second  trip we stayed at the Church Boutique Hotel on Hang Gai. There are three Church Boutique Hotels within a few blocks of each other.  The service at the one we stayed at was excellent, they were almost too kind and helpful. Beds very comfortable with a good breakfast.  Our room this time did not have a window but it was so quiet that we decided to stay put. The other meals are OK, but with so many restaurants in Hanoi it is worth taking the short walk to try out other options.
